LGBTQ+ inclusion in education

It is vital to ensure that all LGBTQ+ young people in education who are questioning their gender identity and/or sexuality, feel safe to explore who they are in a space that is empathetic, nurturing and that will empower them to grow, flourish and truly engage to get the most out of their education.

I regularly work with education professionals to support their students in a number of ways, including:

  • LGBTQ+ inclusion assemblies and workshops for primary and secondary schools
  • Classroom led workshops to students from primary age up to college age who want to learn more about LGBTQ+ history, communities and how to be supportive of and to their peers
  • Bespoke training on LGBTQ+ identities for educational employees and governors so they can support their LGBTQ+ students in the best way possible
  • Event specific sessions in alignment with LGBT History Month (February), LGBT Pride Month (June), National Coming Out Day (October), Anti-Bullying Week (November), FREDIE events, and professional development.
  • 1-1 LGBTQ+ Support and Advice Services for learners, students and employees, offering a safe and supportive space to explore gender identity and/or sexuality.

“Thank you for everything. I now think of how you gave me the strength to be the person I am today. You are a brilliant human being!”

Experienced LGBTQ+ specialist

I have nine year’s of experience in supporting LGBTQ+ people on a 1-1 basis and I run weekly, and bi-monthly 1-1 LGBTQ+ Advice and Support Services and student led group sessions at both Loughborough College and Loughborough University and have done so for a number of years, of which I am extremely proud.

I am not a trained counsellor (although I do possess basic level counselling training) and my LGBTQ+ Support and Advice Service is not therapy. However, I am an experienced LGBTQ+ specialist who is able to provide an active listening ear, validation, acceptance, guidance and advice to learners and employees in addition to counselling.

If you are an educational professional and would like to have a chat about how I can support your school, college or university, please contact me for an initial discussion to build a bespoke support offer for you, your students and your colleagues.
